2015 Ford F-150

There are a lot of questions about how well or poorly the all-new aluminum 2015 Ford F-150 is doing with sales numbers. All the technology talk and marketing are nice, but how is it doing where the rubber meets the road? How is it doing in the dealership showroom?

Ford recently released the following sales breakdown of the F-series trucks. This still has a mixture of the light duty and super duty trucks. It does not answer the question about the F-150 specifically, but it provides a little more insight. This table shows the breakdown by the region, comparing the performance in the first quarter of 2015 (Jan – Mar) versus the same time period of 2014.

Ford has an interesting way of defining the sales regions. They are named by the biggest population center/city, however most of the regions cover large areas. For example, Ford defines the “Denver” region as the state of Colorado, Utah, lower Idaho, and northern Wyoming.  This is a largely rural territory with a total population of approximately 9.0 million, and around 3.7 million of those concentrated within two large metro areas of Denver and Salt Lake City.

These table shows the top 20 growing regions for the F-series pickups. It’s interesting to note that some of the coastal and more urban areas are growing more than some rural regions.
