The 2015 GMC Yukon Denali wins the first annual TFLtruck Gold Hitch Award for (truck based) SUV. The 2015 TFLtruck Gold Hitch Award is awarded to outstanding trucks that are available for testing as a 2015 model, or a 2014 model that is the same as its 2015 model. These trucks must undergo the crucible of towing tests known as the Ike Gauntlet.

TFLtruck established one of the most demanding tests of a truck in the industry. The Ike Gauntlet is a towing and performance test unlike any other. High elevation, steep grades and maximum loads test trucks to their limit. You can see the results of the Ike Gauntlet (here).

Keep in mind: the SUV deliberations were a tad different given that these are all truck-based vehicles.

“The Gold Hitch Award is broken down into five distinct categories, where pickup trucks compete for the win. They are: Midsize, Full-Size SUV, Half-Ton/ Light Duty, Heavy Duty Gas, and Heavy Duty Diesel.
The main award criteria is the empirical data gathered during the TFLtruck’s signature – Ike Gauntlet – extreme towing test. This includes braking performance on the downhill and power delivery on the timed uphill run. – – Each truck will also be judged by a panel of experienced truck testers to evaluate the overall comfort, handling, and confidence when towing.” – – TFLtruck.com

The 2015 TFLtruck Gold Hitch Award winners were announced during the 2015 Denver Auto Show on April 8th, 2015.
