2015 Ram Rebel

One of the most frequent questions asked about the 2015 Ram Rebel – where does it fit among the competition? It was revealed at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the same show that saw the introduction of the 2017 Ford Raptor. Is it a Raptor fighter?

Ram’s answer at the show was that the Rebel is in a unique space and does not really have a competitor. They are positioning the Rebel as an outdoor enthusiast type of truck. A truck with a bold and luxurious flair. Ram’s air suspension is the only choice, but it has been updated to allow for a one inch lift and adjusted for a stable and comfortable ride. Front end geometry has been updated to bring the handling under control. The Rebel has 33-inch off-road Toyo tires and new styling that is also functional. The powder-coated front bumper is new and allows for better approach angle.

There are more Rebel-specific features on the inside. The red trim, redesigned center console, and Rebel gauge cluster treatment. The seats stand out the most with the Toyo tire pattern and new durable material.

However, the Ram Rebel will face competition from the each of the full-size pickup truck manufacturers. It does not have the more capable suspension of the Ford Raptor, but the Rebel may have to compete against the F-150 FX4 package trucks. Also, the Chevy Z71 and GMC AllTerrain packages are aimed at the same audience. The same story with the Nissan Titan PRO-4X and Toyota TRD Pro. Each of these off-road oriented trucks approach the topic from a slightly different perspective, but all offer special suspension tuning, more aggressive tires, and additional visual clues to differentiate them.

The Ram Rebel will go on sale this summer, but pricing has not yet been announced.
