2016 Toyota Tacoma

Toyota claims that the 2016 Toyota Tacoma is “all-new”, but the exterior design takes a cautious evolutionary step forward. This is understandable, considering that the Tacoma is by far the best selling mid-size truck in the United States. In fact, it sold more units than all competitors combined. Still, there is strong new competition from the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon, so the design must move on.

These images feature the new Limited trim level. The front-end has received a well-executed nip and tuck. The smaller headlights make the truck appear a little taller and more athletic. It has a fair amount of family resemblance to the Tundra. The bed-sides, rear lights, the tailgate, and the bed itself all get an update as well. Does the rear of the truck remind you of any other mid-size pickup from a different manufacturer that is no longer sold?

These images come to ahead of the debut of the truck at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show on January 12th, 2015 at 12:50pm ET.

The interior design is still shrouded and will be revealed on January 12th, 2015. TFLtruck will be LIVE broadcasting from the 2015 Detroit Auto Show press conference via the new TFLnow. The same goes for the technical details and specifications. We can expect to learn most details, but likely not all. For example, we may learn about the interior, chassis, and engine specs. However, fuel economy and pricing may come later in the year, and closer to the on-sale date.
