The fully redesigned 2016 Nissan Titan gets teased again ahead of its January 12, 2015 official reveal at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS). Nissan released a quick video clip highlighting how american the next Titan actually is. However, it also shows several components of the new truck, including the backbone. One close-up shows a fully-boxed frame section. There is no doubt that the 2016 Titan needs a very strong boxed frame as it aims to straddle the line between the light-duty 1500 series and heavy-duty 2500 series trucks.

The optional 5.0L Cummins V8 will make over 550 lb-ft of torque. And some configurations of the Titan may even eclipse the maximum towing rating of the 2015 F-150. The towing number may approach 13,000 lbs or beyond, although this is speculation at this time. This type of truck would defy classification. These numbers are spilling over into the heavy-duty truck territory, and the frame is very important there.

How American is the new Nissan Titan? It’s designed in California. It’s engineered in Michigan and testing in Arizona (and Colorado). The Titan is assembled in Mississippi and powered by Tennessee. The 5.0L V8 Cummins turbo-diesel comes from Indiana.
