2015 Chevy Colorado Z71 Performance Concept

Yes, the new breed of midsize pickup truck is here. GM comes back with a fully updated 2015 Chevy Colorado (and GMC Canyon). The segment has kept a low profile over the last few years with the Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier splitting the pie. So, how does GM inject life into its new segment entry? The SEMA show is not a bad way to do it.

GM teamed up with MotoCross great – Ricky Carmichael – to create the Z71 Performance Concept you see here. It’s got a fun and unique paint scheme a few add-ons to make it a very usable pickup truck for an active motorbike and mountain bike family.

It’s a crew cab with a longer 6’2” bed. The cab is comfortable for a family of four (according to Ricky). The bed easily swallows a motocross bike and a mountain bike. Ricky and Chevy worked to design a new bed extender to securely accommodate items up to eight feet long. There is also a roll-over hoop next to the cab. There are handy and durable side steps to complete the package.

Check out this presentation from the 2014 SEMA show stage as Chevrolet and Ricky Carmichael describe the details of the 2015 Chevy Colorado Z71 Performance concept.
