2015 Ford F-150

Ford has a big challenge and opportunity on their hands with the 2015 Ford F-150. The company took a leap forward with all-aluminum body and high-strength steel frame construction. The new trucks will be lighter weight, more capable, and more efficient.

We do not know a lot of specifications about the upcoming F-150 and we haven’t seen them uncovered in the wild until now.

2015_ford_f-150_lariat_spiedWe do know that the new 2.7L EcoBoost V6 makes 325 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque. Ford says that the 2015 F-150 with the smaller EcoBoost will be rated at 2,250 lbs of maximum payload and 8,500 lbs of maximum towing for the 4×2 model. The numbers go down slightly to 2,160 lbs and 8,400 lbs for the 4×4 model. We also know that the base 3.5L naturally aspirated motor makes 283 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque.  It has a maximum payload of 1,910 pounds and a maximum tow rating of 7,600 pounds.

The starting price for the next F-150 will be $26,616 (including the $1,195 destination charge).

Still, the juicy details like the maximum tow rating for the F-150 and fuel economy numbers are still unknown. TFLtruck received information that the ultimate tow rating will be above 12,000 lbs (likely 12,500 lbs). More details will be announced at the end of this month at the State Fair of Texas.
