2014 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel

TFLtruck is looking for a 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel to put it through the Ike Gauntlet towing test.  The goal is to get a similarly equipped model to the 2013 Ram 1500 HEMI we tested last year.  The load will be the same or equivalent to the 8,000 pounds we used last time.  This is why we need a Crew Cab 4×4 equipped with the EcoDiesel.  The shorter bed length is preferable, but either bed would work.  More importantly, the truck should have 3.92 axle rear ratio to get maximum towing capability and to be able to handle the 8,000 lbs load.

The 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 has a lot less horsepower than the HEMI, but it has more torque as any turbo-diesel should.  And the full 420 lb-ft is available at low and very usable 2,000 rpm.  Can the little diesel match the HEMI time up the hill?  How badly will it crush the HEMI on efficiency?  These are some of the questions we want to answer.

The test truck must be properly broken in (have at least 500 miles on the clock), maintained, in proper working order, and without any aftermarket modifications.

It would be great if you live in the Denver area or in Colorado to make the logistics easier.  If interested, please leave a comment here and/or email tflcar@gmail.com
