2016 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax High Altitude Testing?

Imagine our surprise to return from the 2015 Ford F-250/350/450 event and see a bunch of 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 spy photos waiting for us at home. Currently, GM lags behind Ford and Ram in the Heavy Duty truck game. The side-by-side comparison of GM products we recently filmed shows some shortcomings.

Some of our sources have indicated that General Motors is working on a much more competitive Duramax that may be available in the 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 and Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Rumor has it that the new Duramax may make as much as 450 horsepower and 855 lbs-feet if torque. That, combined with an updated transmission and (perhaps) some weight savings, may make the 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 more efficient too.

Considering what we’ve witnessed with the 2015 Ford Super Duty press event, it’s no surprise that GM is out and about testing hard. The photo was taken in the Colorado Rockies as the truck was beginning its test run. It’s a very good chance that this 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 was undergoing emissions testing.

Wonder what’s being hidden under the nose wrapping?

By the way: West Virginia was awesome, despite the ever-present rain.
