What is this 2015 Ford F-150 prototype doing in a parts store parking lot?  This image was taken just a few days ago in Michigan.  It is unlikely that the 2015 Ford F-150 is in the store’s system for specific spare parts or accessories.  Perhaps, the driver was picking up some glass cleaner or visiting a friend?

The next generation F-150 will not go on sale until “late 2014”, according to Ford.  Of course, bringing this revolutionary truck to market is no small feat.  It has to do with the high-strength steel in the frame and the all-aluminum body structure.  The F-150 happens to be the best selling vehicle in the country.  Now, imagine all the work Ford has to do to make this possible.  It’s all in the name of improved capability and efficiency.

Ford is dropping the big 6.2L V8, but still has a four engine lineup for the new truck.  The three V6s are: 3.5 liter normally aspirated V6, the all-new 2.7 liter EcoBoost V6, and the updated 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6.  The 5.0 liter Coyote V8 makes a return as well.  The specific power outputs have not yet been revealed, but all engines will have several hundred fewer pounds of truck to move around.

The new pickup has many class exclusive new features, including: all LED headlights, around-view camera system, panoramic sunroof, power opening tailgate, and more.  We cannot wait to learn more details.  What will the be maximum towing and payload numbers?  Will this truck comply with the J2807 towing testing standard?  What will the actual curb weights be?  When can we take the truck up the Ike Gauntlet?

Learn the specifications and the new features of the 2015 Ford F-150 in this detailed TFLtruck video.
