Will the next generation 2016 Ford Raptor use an EcoBoost V8?

The current Ford SVT Raptor is simply a life-sized toy.  It’s fun and comfortable.  It feels at home in the dirt, on pavement, while towing, or getting a little airborne.  So, can the next generation 2016 Ford Raptor improve on this?  Well, perhaps there are a couple of ways.  How about making the truck lighter and more powerful?

Ford has reportedly allocated funds and time on developing the next generation of the Raptor.  It will be naturally based on the aluminum body structure and high-strength steel frame of the 2015 Ford F-150.  This will make the truck lighter.  If not by 700 lbs, then by a significant percentage.  Of course, you still get all the benefits of the new aluminum cab and interior design: greater stiffness, more legroom, more shoulder room, panoramic sunroof, and more.  As if the current Crew Cab Raptor is lacking on interior room.

Now, a TFLtruck source says that the next Raptor will use an EcoBoost V8.  Sure, using an upgraded version of the existing 3.5L V6 EcoBoost would be convenient, but it would not have the outrageous factor that Raptor is all about.  The twin-turbo V8 will likely displace 5.0 liters (or a little more) and be capable of close to 500 horsepower in Raptor trim.  A blown Coyote!  That sounds more like it.  Make the truck bigger, faster, and (likely) more efficient.  That should keep the customers coming.

Let us know in the comments what you think about a 500 hp turbocharged V8 in the Raptor.
