The 2015 Ford Transit commercial van will go on sale this summer as it replaces the E-series workhorse. It’s entering a more competitive market with new or refreshed entries from Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Ram. Ford is readying a luxury model of the people carrier for the 2014 New York Auto Show, called the Skyliner Concept.
Ford enlisted help from Galpin Auto Sports customizers to turn a high-roof version of the Transit into a boardroom and luxury movie theatre on wheels. Ford states that the Transit Skyliner Concept can be transformed to fit the needs of limousines, high-end transportation services, as well as shuttle providers, and small-business owners.
Some of the exciting features of the Skyliner Concept include:
- Theater Seats face the 52-inch retractable Stewart movie screen and recline for optimal cinematic viewing
- Motorized table unfolds and leather-trimmed seats are gathered around it for face-to-face conversation
- Sliding door opens four feet wide and seats are arranged for easy entertaining while parked at an event
- Passengers can adjust their reclining seats and retractable footrests for ultimate comfort and solitude
The interior of the Skyliner Concept is filled with ammentities that make it one of the most refined and comfortable places to be.
Key features that deck out the inside of this monumental vehicle include:
- LED mood lighting
- Vehicle specific surround sound system
- Directv Satellite for HD viewing
- Media Server storage capable of storing over 300 Blu-ray movies
- Built in drink bar
- Luggage that matches the special leather trimmed seats
As for the exterior, a lot of what you see closely resembles that of the standard Transit van, however there are some key features that nicely compliment the overall upscale feel of the Skyliner Concept.
- Custom Silver Metallic paint scheme
- Contrasting lower trim and chrome accents
- Custom Forgiato Wheels
As for the drivetrain, Ford optioned it well, and this van does not disappoint, making it available with its proven 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin turbocharged V6 motor that will easily propel this luxury bus.
