Top Five Huntin’ Trucks Fresh from the Factory

The winters in Prudhoe Bay have an average temperature of -11.2 degrees Fahrenheit.

Get your shotguns ready boys, we got the Top Five Huntin’ Trucks picked by TFLTruck.com for you – YEE HAW! When you build a pickup truck for hunting, you call a Huntin’ truck – right? Usually that entails building up a vehicle that’s capable off road, has room for gear, tough as nails and looks bad-ass. That’s all fine and dandy for the folks who like to wrench on their own trucks; but, what about the folks who want something ready to take on a Red-neck rampage directly from the factory?

Here’s a few choices!

Top Five Huntin’Trucks #5: Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Package – The regular Toyota Tundra is a fine pickup truck. Easy to live with and easy to drive, it was never that capable off road (in stock form), the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Package takes care of that with beefed up suspension, armor, tires and some sweet cosmetic upgrades. It’s all beef.

Top Five Huntin’Trucks #4: Ram Power Wagon – Dude a HEMI, lockers, disconnecting sway-bar and a 2500 frame? Yea, that’s a proper rig baby. Roman and I got to play with an older version of the Ram Power Wagon in Moab Utah. It took on Wipe Out Hill like a champ. Can’t wait for the new one!

Top Five Huntin’Trucks #3: GMC Sierra 1500 Denali – Okay, okay – we know the 2013 rig does not have a “proper” transfer case. It has a remarkably capable AWD system that’s fully automatic. The new one is more traditional (we have BOTH videos!) Either one would be a great pickup for a more mature hunter who wants to be coddled.

Top Five Huntin’Trucks #2: Ford F-150 FX4 – The only reason the F-150 FX4 makes the list while the Raptor does not is because of size. Full size pickup trucks are enormous as it is; the Raptor would have a harder time getting through tight obstacles, just like a HUMMER H1. The Ford F-150 FX4 is a brilliant off road package.

Top Five Huntin’Trucks #1: Ram 1500 Diesel: That’s right, it’s another Ram and it’s not even the heavy duty diesel. Look at it this way: when you’re hunting the Great White Buffalo, you want to have power AND range. One of the biggest sins committed by many who off-road, camp, hunt and fish is a vehicle that needs to depart the adventure early due to range anxiety. The Ram 1500 Diesel can double the range of many trucks in its class while having great torque!
