Not for Us: Isuzu D-Max Blade special edition gets updates

2014 isuzu d-max blade pickup truck

Isuzu is no longer selling light-duty or midsize pickup trucks in the United States, but this Isuzu D-Max Blade looks like it could be at home on American roads.  This little truck is powered by a 2.5L four cylinder turbo-diesel that pumps out 161 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque @ 1,400-2,000 rpm.   It comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic.  This is the little truck that could, as it is rated for maximum towing of over 7,700 lbs and maximum payload of 2,343 lbs.

The Blade special edition represents the most optioned and most luxurious model in the D-Max range.  It will be available for sale in the UK in April 2014 with a starting price of £24,995 British Pound Sterling.  Of course, this converts to over $41,000 at the current rate, but we are not counting since it will not be sold here.  Isuzu does say that they were able to package £5,000 of optional equipment into a price increase of just £1,000.

FYI: Isuzu still sells commercial trucks in United States, and the GM Duramax turbo-diesel V8 is still based on the Isuzu design.

By the way, TFL presenter and write – Emme Hall – is on her way to the Gazelle Rally of Morocco.  She will be racing an Isuzu D-Max across the desert.  We wish her best of luck.  You will find more coverage from the Rally here and on TFLcar.com.

Take a look at this detailed walk-around video on the upcoming 2015 GMC Canyon.  The new GM midsize trucks will have a 2.8L turbo-diesel option for 2016 model year.
