What is it like to live with a 2014 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor on a daily basis?

5. Tailgate LockingTailgate locking is becoming a important feature as this is an expensive component being targeted by thieves.  Other pickups (like Ram 1500) have this integrated into the truck central and remote operated locking system.  This is an item Ford addressed for the new 2015 F-150.  The redesigned truck will actually kick the tailgate open remotely.

4. Interior QualityA lot of the plastics around the driver, including some of the dials and knobs are of low grade plastics.  This truck costs over $50,000 and it deserves higher quality materials.

3. Ford SYNC: This is common criticism.  The Raptor SYNC has tiny seat heating/cooling control buttons and the system is overall convoluted and complicated.  The cool part is that SYNC allows you to upload a custom image as background image for the screen.

2. Bed Tie-downs: The F-150 short bed has only four fixed hooks.  It’s not enough if you want to carry two motorcycles or other odd items.  The 2015 F-150 improved on this and we are looking forward to testing this.

1. Fuel Economy: TFLtruck Raptor is barely broken in now, and we have been having a lot of fun with it.  Our latest economy average is 12.7 MPG combined.  It can get expensive to fill-up the 36 gallon fuel tank every week.  Hopefully, this average will improve a little as the truck ages.

5. Interior spaceWow, the SuperCrew F-150 has a ton of interior space: leg room, shoulder room, head room, etc are all exceptional in the front and the rear.

4. Exhaust note:  That big 6.2L V8 is thirsty, but the sound is so good.  (See our videos).

3. Interior noise levelthe interior plastics are not very good, but the overall noise level in the F-150 Raptor matches or exceeds that of many sedans and crossovers.  This  is typical of most current Ford vehicles, and it’s a great bonus.

2. Tires and Suspension: the BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires are aggressive, but also comfortable and quiet. They work very well in the snow and light mud.  They work very well with the Fox Racing shocks on the Raptor.

1. Ride quality: once again, the large tires and Fox Racing shocks combine to provide one of the most comfortable rides.  Yes, the Raptor has a good amount of nose dive while braking and lean in fast corners, but these are the inherent qualities of an off-road truck.  The flip side is a smooth ride that rivals that of most luxury sedans.
