Meet the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, a replacement for the MBZ Viano. In a bold move, Mercedes-Benz brings a van to market that they hope will entice luxury seekers AND small cargo van buyers. Based on the high-end interior option, it’s easy to see that the Mercedes-Benz V-Series has its sights set high.
“With the new V-Class we are expanding the Mercedes-Benz premium passenger car range with a saloon for up to eight people”, said Dr. Dieter Zetsche: Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG/ Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars. “Functionality is a must for an MPV. Comfort and style are the icing on the cake. The new V-Class combines both in a way no other vehicle in this segment can offer.”
The regular Mercedes-Benz V-Series van is 192.7-inches in length. The longer length/wheelbase option is 211.4-inches in length.
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class will have one 2.1-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel with three output levels:
- V200 CDI 134hp
- V220 CDI 161hp
- V250 BlueTEC 187hp
Mercedes-Benz V-Class 250 BlueTEC comes standard with the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission with paddle shifters. An automatic transmission is available for the V 200 CDI and V 220 CDI models that have manual gearboxes in their standard trim.
Standard safety features include:
- Crosswind Assist
- ATTENTION ASSIST
Optional safety features include:
- 360-degree camera,
- DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control
- COLLISION PREVENTION Assist
- Traffic Sign Assist with wrong-way warning

The Mercedes-Benz V-Type will have some hefty competition from Ford, Nissan and Ram/FIAT – to name a few.
We’ll keep an eye on this one – but it’s doubtful that they will bring it to the USA.
