Ram confirmed today the expansion of the their commercial van lineup with the addition of the 2015 Ram ProMaster City. The “City” is the smaller brother to the 2014 ProMaster full-size van, which has just recently went on sale. Ram has not announced the release date, but the City will labeled as the 2015 model year. It will be available as commercial cargo van as well as a passenger configuration. It will do battle against other small commercial vans: Nissan NV200, Chevrolet City Express, and Ford Transit Connect.
Ram has not released any images or technical specifications. However, they mentioned that it will be based on the Fiat Doblo van which has seen success in European and other world markets. The Fiat Doblo van is available with several engine options in Europe: including a diesel option and output up to 135 horsepower. It’s possible that Ram will use a version of the Chrysler TigerShark four-cylinder engine, but we don’t have these details yet.
