Demand for the current Ford F-150 Pickup is so strong that Ford says it will build the new model along side the old model for six months.

The new Ford F-150 pickup is scheduled to go into production in July of 2014 but Ford says it will still build the current model to avoid disruption of sales due potential production problems.

The Ford F-150 is ,and has been, America’s best selling vehicle for decades.

According to Reuters, “But planning for the upcoming F-150 comes as U.S. demand for trucks is quickly growing, stoked by strength in the housing and oil industries. Ford cannot afford any disruption to production at a time when U.S. sales of full-size pickups are increasing at almost three times the pace of the overall industry.”

Ford hinted at the look and feel of the new  pickup earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show when it introduced the Ford F-150 Atlas Concept.
