Im sure everyone reading this bought their truck, or plans to buy their future truck with a huge amount of brand bias influencing their decision.  Myself included.

Basically you will work within the available options and parameters that your preferred brand offers to build the truck you want.  However there are always instances where you see someone driving down the road with another truck that has something you desperately want, but cant get because your manufacturer doesn't offer that option.  Instead of considering another truck brand, most people will likely be left green with envy until their brand of choice comes out with something similar in the future.  I also believe that truck commercials and marketing only affect about 10%-15% of buyers, while the rest have already made their minds up on what they are buying.

Being a GM fan, specifically Chevrolet, I am making a whish list of things I hope GM will incorporate into their future trucks when the time comes for me to upgrade.  Following GM R&D over the past few years it seems that their M/O is to always be last to the party when it comes to new and exciting features on their trucks.  From what I notice its usually Ram & Ford doing something innovative, mostly Ford.

I currently own a '15 Silverado 1500, Crew Cab 4x4 w/ the standard length box and the 5.3L V8.

Things I would like include...

-A turbo diesel option on 1/2 ton's

-Weight reduction (aluminum body similar to Ford? It seems to be working for them)

-E-coated frame (GM currently wax coats their frames and I believe Ram and Ford both E-coat their 1/2 ton's)

-Better sound system/speakers (the current sound system is pretty dull)

-Rear passenger A/C vents

-Larger fuel tank (26 gal is the current size)

-Proximity key feature

Here are a couple of things that some might consider "old-school" about my current truck that I hope GM never gets rid of

-Column Shifter (HUGE deal to me, I hate all the room in the console a "stick shift" automatic shifter takes up)

-Placement of all the controls (The placement of general controls like wipers & high beams were relatively the same on my 2001 S-10)

What are some things you guys wish you had on your trucks?

I am a GM fan as well.  Only a couple things I can think of adding.  Make the 6.2 available across all trim levels in the half ton, upgrade the 6.0, and increase tow/payload ratings in the HD.  Also would love to see a 4500/5500 sooner rather than later

It would be cool to see Ford take the 2.7 and add Tacoma style crawl control stuff....I think that engine in a short wheelbase makes a great Tacoma killer.

Would like to hear what people think of the news ( maybe more at the Detroit Auto Show ) of a new, next generation of the V8 engine?

I like a quite a few things from Ktkness list.

Agree yes -A turbo diesel option on 1/2 ton's

Agree sort of as long as they keep critical areas steel like the bed floor and upper bed rails made of steel that thin aluminum bed has taken Ford out of the running for my business needs -Weight reduction (aluminum body similar to Ford? It seems to be working for them)

Agree yes -E-coated frame (GM currently wax coats their frames and I believe Ram and Ford both E-coat their 1/2 ton's)

Agree GM needs help here, others brands are much better at truck audio -Better sound system/speakers (the current sound system is pretty dull)

Agree GM needs to get with the program here as well-Rear passenger A/C vents

Agree GM is again behind the curve here too-Larger fuel tank (26 gal is the current size)

Agree again they have the tech it is in the full size SUVs why its not in the pickups I have no idea -Proximity key feature

Here are a couple of things that some might consider "old-school" about my current truck that I hope GM never gets rid of

I agree yes -Column Shifter (HUGE deal to me, I hate all the room in the console a "stick shift" automatic shifter takes up)

I agree yes -Placement of all the controls (The placement of general controls like wipers & high beams were relatively the same on my 2001 S-10)

I am probably the least brand loyal person you will find on here. I have owned all the major brands and try my best to keep an open mind to all new trucks.

I am ordering some new Titan regular cabs for the business this week. Best features, best warranty, great price, along with meeting all my functional criteria, ie. some decent storage space behind the seat, is critical space to have for a regular cab in my business. Ford has the space but do to the aluminum beds can't handle the up fitting we require. Power lift gates, racking etc. Ram and the Titan are very similar functional features and in price, mechanical performance, but not in warranty. The Titan has that 5 year 100K  warranty. The Tundra is a great truck for my application best cab space of any of the trucks in the market, but price point is $5000.00 higher then what I can buy the Titan's for or the Ram's or any other V8 regular cab on the market all are right at 5k less then Tundra in actual transaction price for me.

For personal trucks.

That proximity Key and fuel tank size were two of the main reasons I have chosen Ram for my personal trucks the past 4 purchases of full size trucks.

The most important thing I want on my next full size truck is a surround view camera system with good resolution, and screen large enough to make good use of it. The lack of a large V8 or a turbo diesel and that aluminum bed,  will likely always keep me out of a Ford for my personal use.
