Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon vs Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro

The race between the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon and the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro was much closer than we anticipated. The ultimate off-road version of the Rubicon (aka. Recon edition) is powered by the same 3.6L Pentastar V6 that has been in the Jeep for several years. The Jeep’s V6 rating is 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The JK Wrangler we are testing here is equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The Tacoma TRD Pro is powered by the same 3.5L V6 that is available on other Tacomas. The engine is equipped with dual-injection system for a combination of power and efficiency. The engine is rated at 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, this example is backed up by a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Please stay tuned for the final (7th) episode in this series, which will have the table of all of the 0-60 MPH times we recorded for all of the trucks that participated.
