Check out this pair of 2019 Ram 1500 prototypes. One of the new trucks is sporting Ram’s traditional extending towing mirrors, and it is hitched up to a tandem-axle trailer with a Jeep Grand Cherokee on top. The two trucks are parked next to a gasoline pump (no diesel fuel being pumped here).

The Trailhawk version of the Grand Cherokee weighs just under 5,300 lbs before additional options.  The trailer itself weighs around 2,000 lbs. So this half-ton is testing with a sizable load that is approaching 7,500 lbs. The other prototype is showing a dual exhaust system, but there is no way to currently verify if the HEMI V8 is back under the hood.

The 2019 Ram 1500 is expected to make its world wide debut at the 2018 North American International Auto Show (aka. NAIAS, Detroit Auto Show). We cannot wait see the truck in production trim and take it on a towing test.

        1. Its a nice option for towing or payload, poor option for off-road, and a terrible option when it fails. Vehicles with an adjustable, self-leveling air suspension system have a very long history of being unreliable, and it doesn’t matter what brand you pick. Air springs eventually leak or blow, compressors fail, leaks form at air line connections, height sensors fail, and in the winter…the air compressor heats the air which then cools rapidly as it travels in the air lines…causing condensation that the drier does not prevent…which freezes at the solenoid valves that regulate height…and you have a problem.

    1. I’m looking forward to see what Ram is going to bring to the table. I think they are going to bring an even better product and will continue to increase sales. Time will tell but I’m hopeful we see some inline engine options.

        1. That sounds like a lot of horsepower to squeeze out of a 2 litre 4 banger but then again people can squeeze 1000hp out of a the same capacity engine in a Mitsubishi Evo so maybe not.

    2. RAM needs to take an evolutionary approach to styling. The current RAM is a very good looking truck and that is what is behind a lot of their sales. In my opinion, the styling of the Charger went downhill with the latest generation.
