These are the Most Affordable Midsize, Half-ton, and HD Trucks: Nissan, Ram 1500, and Ram HD

What are the most affordable brand-new 2017 and 2018 pickup truck in the United States?  Look no further than this convenient table of starting prices for the base model trucks. We went through and picked the most basic and the least pricey configuration of each pickup truck on the market. All prices listed here are Manufacturer Suggested Retail Prices (MSRPs). This is the only prices we communicate because manufacturer cash offers, rebates, incentives, and dealership discounts vary from day to day and from one location to the next. Some manufacturers use heavier rebates than others, and tracking the rebates requires a database that is updates weekly or daily.

Midsize Trucks

There is a large spread of starting prices among the midsize pickups because the Honda Ridgeline base model comes as a crew cab with a V6 engine. All other entries are extended cabs that are powered by four cylinder gas engines. If you have been watching TFLtruck this year, it should as no surprise that the Nissan Frontier S is the most affordable truck. We had it for a 6-month long-term test. We dubbed it the “Final Frontier“, and the truck never let us down.

Honda Ridgeline Crew Cab 2WD 3.5L V6: $30,570

Toyota Tacoma Extended Cab 2WD 2.7L I4: $23,855

GMC Canyon Extended Cab 2WD 2.5L I4: $21,880

Chevy Colorado Extended Cab 2WD 2.5L I4: $20,995

Nissan Frontier Extended Cab 2WD 2.5L I4: $19,365

Half-Ton Trucks

The half-ton truck price range is more closely matched, but the Toyota Tundra is one outlier because the base truck no longer comes in a single cab configuration. The Nissan Titan 1500 does not (yet) offer a base V6 engine – the 5.6L V8 is the only option at this time. In the end, the Ram 1500 comes out as the MSRP leader, beating the Ford F150 by $185.

Toyota Tundra Extended Cab 2WD 4.6L V8: $32,415

Nissan Titan Single Cab 2WD 5.6L V8: $30,875

GMC Sierra 1500 Single Cab 2WD 4.3L V6: $29,700

Chevy Silverado 1500 Single Cab 2WD 4.3L V6: $29,080

Ford F150 Single Cab 2WD 3.3L V6: $28,675

Ram 1500 Single Cab 2WD 3.6L V6: $28,490
