How far has the heavy duty truck technology progressed over the lasts 43 years? We find out by taking a detailed look at a 1974 Ford F-250 4×4 “High Boy” versus a 2017 Ford F-250 King Ranch. Are these two trucks completely different? After all 43 years is a mighty long time in the automotive world. You might be surprised at some of the design features that remain.

Ford example, both trucks have solid front and rear axles; both have an option to manually lock their front hubs; and both have an option for vinyl floors. Also the 1974 F-250 Ranger XLT and the 2017 King Ranch model are both nearly fully loaded and nearly the most expensive versions of their respective generations.

Other than that these two are wildly different from the way they ride to their body construction.
