Ram has announced a recall of 1.02 million Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 truck in the U.S., 216,007 trucks in Canada, 21,668 trucks in Mexico, and 21,530 trucks in other markets for a software issue that may prevent rollover airbag and seat belt safety systems from functioning properly under certain conditions.
The recall affects 2013-2016 Ram 1500 and 2500 trucks, and 2014-2016 Ram 3500 trucks.
If there is a significant blow to the truck’s underbody (such as rocks when driving off-road) the computer may disable the rollover protection airbag deployment system and seat belt pretensioning system. If the vehicle is in a rollover when this condition occurs, the disabled systems increase the potential of injury.
Ram dealers will start reprogramming the vehicles in late June.
