Ram has announced a recall of 1.02 million Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 truck in the U.S., 216,007 trucks in Canada, 21,668 trucks in Mexico, and 21,530 trucks in other markets for a software issue that may prevent rollover airbag and seat belt safety systems from functioning properly under certain conditions.

The recall affects 2013-2016 Ram 1500 and 2500 trucks, and 2014-2016 Ram 3500 trucks.

If there is a significant blow to the truck’s underbody (such as rocks when driving off-road) the computer may disable the rollover protection airbag deployment system and seat belt pretensioning system. If the vehicle is in a rollover when this condition occurs, the disabled systems increase the potential of injury.

Ram dealers will start reprogramming the vehicles in late June.

    1. These are the kind of recall the dealers love. Not only do they get paid by the manufacturer for the recall work, but they will make even more on their customers, who will say things like “change my oil” or “can you check my brakes”, etc. While I’m here.

    2. What about their programming issue for the HVAC controls going inop and needing an update every two weeks to get your heater to work again? Oh yeag NOT safety related so it doesn’t happen FREQUENTLY!!

      1. It’s great electronics,if you can just reprogram it and doesn’t needs to be replaced.

        1. That’s rather odd and hypocritical. Ford had a recall on tcm programming for a small number of F150’s and you talk about it all the time and how bad it is.

          1. I never said anything you presented in here.
I criticized tranny sudden downshift, brake master cylinder, door latch and intercooler recalls on F150.

            1. Yes tranny downshift was a reprogram recall. This makes you a hypocrite unless you retract your statements

          2. Tranny downshift was a sensor replacement, not a software reflash and intercooler plastic deflector position has been changed several times.

            1. Nope, wrong again. All trucks involved receive a TCM programming update to prevent a downshift if the TSS fails. If the sensor does fail Ford is replacing the sensor under the program and Ford is extending the warranty to 150,000 miles. There is no intercooler recall. I wonder if you are ever right.

            2. To bad for you, that everyone can Google Sensor replacement and plastic intercooler deflector.

BTW: I never said anything you criticized me for, in your first reply to my post,so nothing odd and hypocritical.

            3. You can Google anything you want but facts are facts. If you actually look up the actual Ford recall from Ford, you will get the truth. Your problem is you Google stuff and try and find the worst stuff and post it as fact. That’s why you are always wrong. You never fact check and it makes you look like a retard.

            4. You are not even trying to hide, that you constantly lie. Do you really enjoy to constantly embarras yourself for argument sake ?

BTW: I never said anything you criticized me for, in your first reply to my post,so nothing odd and hypocritical.

            5. haha, you found out you are wrong again so you are trying to side step your ignorance. Typical putc ram, argue till you cannot be wrong any more and then side step trying to divert the attention towards yourself and being constantly wrong. Thanks for playing again. I love winning.

            6. Canoe, the TSS is only replaced if needed. And Ford extended the warranty on it. The primary fix is the update. Do I think the TSS should be replaced on all of them, sure but they chose to extend the warranty till 150k. Unlike fiat with the 9 speed. One of the issues is the wiring harnesss. Instead of fixing the harness or offering extended warranty on it, they just updated the tcm and that is it.

            7. That’s just your interpretation All1.
Recall clearly says sensor replacement and reprogramming in the case of failure.

            8. Jimmy aka PUTC All1 it doesn’t matter. In general,it’s great electronics,if you can just reprogram it and doesn’t needs to be replaced.

            9. You have some weird boner for this all1 guy. What, did he turn you down for some man on man action?

            10. No. He is you All1.
Delusional with Dislexia, talking exactly like you word by word , unable to focus on one topic or issue, constantly jumping from one to another, posting personal attacks for no reason, talking gay language when without argument.
Go see a doctor All1. I mean it,like your long time friend.

            11. Ok putc ram, if I was this all1 guy why would i not admit it? I prove you wrong all the time and hence if you think i was that guy, he obviously proved you wrong all the time too. So why would I not take credit for making you look like a fool here and over there as all1? It makes no sense. Other than you are always wrong.

            12. Because he is you All1.
Delusional with Dislexia, talking exactly like you word by word , unable to focus on one topic or issue, constantly jumping from one to another, posting personal attacks for no reason, talking gay language when without argument.
He was driving ecoboost, drilled the intercooler, blowoff turbos, because of programmer and more power wanted, bought RAM 3500 Cummins instead, left PUTC, because of embarrassed himself.

            13. That doesn’t make any sense. If I clearly don’t like ram, why would I own or drive one? If I had an ECOBoost F150, why would I say I own a 2010 F150? Talk about off your rocker.

            14. You bought a RAM because you worked for Cummins and you like to mess with programmers and you said, you hate RAM and you will trade it for Ford 350.
It makes complete sense, because you are delusional All1.

            15. @Mike, I am 100% right about All1. Check PUTC from 2 years ago. He had ecoboost, he was constantly bashing RAM, he eat a crow, bought a fully loaded RAM 3500 and he was constantly bashing RAM in every post again, telling us, he is going to trade it for the new Ford 350 with new diesel 6.7. It never happened.
              He still drives RAM 3500.

            16. Oh my god you are getting even funnier. Now all1 ate a crow? Not much meat on a crow but that is really funny. He bashed ram but decided to buy a ram even though he bashes them. That is classic. I always buy stuff I hate. Always. Haha. You know, I caught you in another lie. You said all 1 never bought a F350. How do you know? You said he left.

            17. Well, you are always wrong so might as well fit this under your belt too. Like i said, I thoroughly enjoy proving you wrong on everything, if the all1 guy was the same way, then I would certainly have no issue admitting it. Plus you getting so butt hurt by me you would think you would not want to bring it up. So keep thinking it and I will keep making you look like a fool.

      2. Actually the electronics are great. It’s the users behind the electronics. I had an issue with anyconnect. Called their tech support line. Useless. Through trial and error I find that my phone goes into power conservation mode causing issues with bluetooth. Now that I connect my phone to power in the truck that problem is solved. Then there was a problem with anyconnect not establishing a connection. That was due to mobile app updates requiring a logoff and logon to the mobile app. So all the problems were related to my phone and the mobile app. Otherwise FCA electronics have been bulletproof.

        1. Thats great for you but not the norm i work with two guys who bought a 15 & 16 ram. One had his 9 months before getting sick of it being at the dealer every 2-3 weeks and traded it in on a f150. The other had his 6 months and traded it of on a Chevy for the same problem. I also work with a guy we just hired from the ram dealership who says hes never “worked” on si many of the same vehicles so frequently performing updates because things would qyit working or work wrong. Conclusion? Crap programming and electronics in Ram products.

    3. Now, if this were a Tesla vehicle, the software update would not require a trip to the dealer; it could happen while watching Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 1 🙂

      1. It’s possible. Any connect can tell you via email when your tire pressures are low. Like Dan Bush alluded to, it’s to get you into their dealers for the real profits.

    4. What do you expect from FIAT. At least the engines aren’t falling out. Oh wait, that’s next year’s model.

As the song says “when will they ever learn, when will they ever learn.
The only people gaining from this are the dealers, who will find a bunch of other problems when the cars come in. Being a FIAT product they will probably be right.
Oh no, the headlights are low on Halogen fluid and the muffler bearings need re packing and the glovebox doors are
mis-aligned!!! Also, the deck needs to be re-shoffled.
Trucks that look great, and work great but are built like crap are their forte.

    5. You have to ask, if Ford and FAC are so bad, then why to they continue to sell, a combined, more than 1 million light trucks a year?

And, if Toyota light trucks are so wonderful, then why doesn’t Toyota prefer to strongly compete in that market vs cars? Don’t forget, the margins on cars is much less than on light trucks. Also, keep in mind Toyota is investing more in cars than light trucks.

    6. So much bickering in these comment sections, starting to look way too much like the PUTC comment section..
