You have a factory stock pickup truck (new or used). What would be your first pickup truck upgrade or customization to make the truck unique and special? This may or may not be a simple question. Of course, much of it depends on your budget and imagination.

There are so many aftermarket parts and accessories for every kind of truck out there. Where do you start with your customization project? Are looking to make an off-road monster or a boulevard cruiser? Is it a new truck or a classic?

You got to have a vision for the final product when you first purchase the truck or start the project.

One of our latest projects is Big Green (1985 Chevy K10). We bought it because of its classically cool looks and relatively rust-free frame and body. It did have one weakness – an old 305 cu-in V8 and a quiet exhaust. We are keeping the factory look of the truck and replaced some damaged components (e.g. front grille and rear bumper) with reproduction parts. We went for a performance 350 V8 engine swap, and the project is still underway as we are working out the bugs.

The question is: if you had to start with something, what would be first area you would replace as you work on your project? Let us know in the poll and the comments below.
