Can the 2017 Ram Power Wagon overcome unpredictable weather conditions and climb the rutted-out Gold Mine Hill trail? This is precisely what we wanted to find out. It just snowed the night before, and we were not sure whether it made sense to explore the Gold Mine Hill trail and surrounding areas. The last time we went up there in a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, the sheet of ice under a fresh cover of snow prevented us from going very far up the trail.

This time conditions were favorable. The snow has mostly melted, but there were many snowy and muddy areas to keep things interesting.

The 2017 Ram Power Wagon still has all of the off-road hardware to tackle trails much harder than this. The 6.4L HEMI V8 produces 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. The 6-speed automatic transmission sends power to solid axles front and rear. Both axles are loaded with 4.10 differential gears and lockers. Front disconnecting sway bar and a factory-installed winch are thrown in for good measure.
