The Arctic Trucks Toyota Hilux AT44 6×6 was built by the same company that builds some of the highest rated Arctic off-road exploration vehicles on the planet – Arctic Trucks. Remember Top Gear’s Arctic exploration a few years back? How about Top Gear’s James May’s visit to a volcano? Yep, same manufacturer.

While we caught wind of the Arctic Trucks Toyota Hilux AT44 6×6 via Motor Russia magazine article, it turns out that Arctic Trucks are available in Iceland, Norway, UAE, UK, Russia, Poland and Finland. Please note: nothing here about the United States – bummer. I’m liking seeing more purpose-built 6X6 trucks. One that’s built from a new Toyota Hilux platform sounds pretty awesome.

Here is a 4×4 version of the new Hilux AT35 4×4 in action.

A little bit about the truck-builder: “Arctic Trucks was established in Iceland in 1990 and specializes in the re-engineering and conversion of four-wheel drive vehicles for extreme conditions. Over the years, Arctic Trucks have built an unparalleled level of expertise in developing vehicles to deliver handling, safety and reliability improvements both on and off road. Our development engineers have accompanied many of these expeditions so they can understand, first hand, the challenges the vehicles they design will need to conquer. This unique insight and experience means we have been able to tame environments our competitors simply do not account for.” – – arctictrucks.com

This 6×6 version costs about ₽11,000,000 Russian Rubles; that’s about $172,000.

The Arctic Trucks Toyota Hilux AT44 6×6 started as a regular Toyota Hilux with a 177 horsepower, 2.8 liter diesel that makes around 295 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission listed is a six-speed automatic. The cool stuff comes in the form of three ARB air lockers. That’s right, all three axles can be locked individually.

Obviously, the Arctic Trucks Toyota Hilux AT44 6×6 was lengthened and the rear suspension components are all modified in-house. The axle modifications are from Arctic Trucks as well.
