Ram used the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show to demonstrate their Augmented Reality Configurator system. This is a tool that can be used to “see” the innards of the Ram ProMaster. It gives the viewer a three-dimensional, multi-angle view of the cargo area.

How does it work?

Simply put: the Augmented Reality Configurator allows you to use a tablet to look “inside” the van with a virtual overlay and scroll through a variety of different configurations. Upfitting the interior of the Ram ProMaster with (for example) an electrician or plumber-centric setup requires unique shelving, cabinets and racks that can be installed through your commercial Ram dealer.

According to Ram, the upfitted Ram ProMaster can be financed along with the vehicle.

Using the Augmented Reality Configurator allows customers to not only see the interior setup, but you can see how the Ram Promaster differs with an overlay in length and height – all by using the Augmented Reality Configurator. You can also see information from the commercial Ram page including specifications.

This is a tool for dealerships and for the show circuit; however, this system can be used by most tablets and there will soon be an iTunes download available.

A full video demonstration is coming very soon!

In the meantime, here is our latest take on the Ram ProMaster.
