As always, we thank you submitting your question to TFLtruck and Mr.Truck. Please keep your comments, stories, and questions coming. On this episode of ‘Ask Mr.Truck’, we discuss the best aftermarket brake controller, a rusty hitch on a brand-new truck, rack and pinion steering, and towing tips.

What are you options if you bought a truck without an integrated brake controller? Most pickup trucks can now be optioned with a factory brake controller. If your truck did not come with one, you have to go with an aftermarket solution. The pickups and SUVs that do not offer a brake controller usually come pre-wired for an aftermarket unit. Kent “Mr Truck” Sundling tells us his favorite brake controller options.

There is also a question about tire pressures while towing. We recommend to air up to the specification defined by the truck manufacturer (found on the door sticker). This goes for driving solo or towing. Under-inflated tires can overheat while towing, which can cause a blow out. Safety is paramount and watching tire pressures on the truck and the trailer is a big part of staying safe.

There is also a question about the TRD Pro versions of the Toyota Tacoma and the 4Runner. Are the TRD Pro versions worth the money? Which one is better? How are they to live with on a daily basis?
