The Ram Power Wagon is, and has been, one of the most capable off-roading trucks on the market for quite some time. The 2017 model, which we have known about for some time, looks to be a fantastic successor to the current truck. The 2017 Ram Power Wagon comes with many of the off-roading upgrades we have come to expect from a Power Wagon.
Including: Bilstein Shocks, 33-inch tires, locking front and rear differentials, electronically disconnecting sway bars, a 12,000 lb Warn winch, and to top it all off, the retro-70’s style graphics and appearance package. Of course all of this comes with a beefy 410 horsepower V8 from the Ram 2500.
Fortunately, we have had a chance to drive this new 2017 Ram Power Wagon and we can say with certainty that it is still just as good off-road as it ever was. But, this long list of upgrades do come at a price. $53,015 to be exact. Which is certainly not the cheapest truck ever, but considering what you get with that money, the Power Wagon is still a great value. If you feel like the stock interior is a little underwhelming, there is a Leather and Luxury package available for $4,495. This gives you satellite radio, heated leather seats and steering wheel, and voice control functionality.
If this price seems a bit steep to you, don’t worry, there is another option. This year, Ram will be offering what they call the Power Wagon Package on any Four-Wheel-Drive Ram 2500 Tradesman with the crew cab. For $8,450 Ram will give you all of the same mechanical bits that the Power Wagon has, but without the interior and exterior styling of the full-price Power Wagon. The Tradesman starts at $39,865, so when you add the Power Wagon Package, the total comes to $46,995 so long as you don’t add anymore options to the truck. When you do the math, that is about $6,000 of savings over the Power Wagon base price. Given that some people find the appearance package on the Power Wagon to be a bit off-putting, this is also a great way to get the same capability, but without the flashy looks.
If this pricing looks acceptable, good news! The 2017 Ram Power Wagon should be available in the first quarter of 2017.
