Top 5 Features That Make the 2017 Ford Super Duty More Comfortable

The 2017 Ford Super Duty is all new. It has a new steel frame, all-aluminum body and bed, and more powerful engines. The 6.2L gasoline V8 has been tweaked for more power, as was the 6.7L Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8, which is now rated at class leading 440 hp and 925 lb-ft of torque. The 2017 Super Duty is rated to tow and haul more than before, but it also can be loaded with many high-tech and luxury features that make it more comfortable than ever before. Here are the top 5 features that make this truck more comfortable.

5. Frame, Suspension, and Hydraulic Cab Mount

The high-strength steel frame is now fully boxed and has additional cross members to provide the truck with a solid foundation. This means that engineers can better tune the suspension system for better ride comfort. In addition, the 2017 Super Duty crew cab is now using hydraulic rear cab mounts to further soften the ride. The result is a heavy duty truck that rides much like a half-ton.

4. Bigger Cabs / More Leg Room

The 2017 Super Duty shares the cab construction with the F-150. This also means that all cab configurations are longer for more rear legroom (43.6 inches of rear legroom in the crew cab). The rear cab has a flat floor and the folding rear seats in the crew cab offer lockable under-seat storage.

3. Adaptive Steering / Adaptive Cruise

The truck offers optional adaptive steering and cruise control systems. These options are part of pricey optional packages, but they offer a more comfortable experience for the driver. The adaptive steering system dynamically varies the steering ratio to decrease the amount of steering at slow speeds and increase stability at high speeds. The adaptive steering retains good weight and feeling as it works seamlessly to vary the ratio.

2. Video Camera System

The new Super Duty can be equipped with up to seven video cameras. The forward-facing camera located behind the center rearview mirror is reserved for the adaptive cruise and lane keep assist systems. However, there are six others that the driver can select from and use to maneuver or hook up a trailer. There are front and rear cameras, a camera on top of the cab that looks down into the bed, and cameras on the exterior mirrors that help construct a 360 degree birds-eye image of the truck. There is also an option for a wired camera to be mounted on the back of your trailer to see what’s going on behind it when backing up.

1. Folding Steps, Heated/Cooled Seats with Massage

Finally, there are a collection of luxurious features for more comfort. The Super Duty can be optioned with a power folding side steps (which can be disabled during winter or when off-roading), power folding tail gate which can be activated via a dash mounted button or the key fob, and heated/cooled front seats with a massage feature.
