World War II Warbird towed by Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty makes for Awesome Video & Pictures

We get it. These pictures are a not so subtle commercial for Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty trucks. But it is for a good cause and better yet the video below and these pictures are just awesome. How often do you get to see a modern day pickup truck towing not one, but three, warbirds into an old WWII  historic U.S. airplane factory.

YankeeAirMuseum-RB-57According to the GM Press Release, ” In 2013, the “Save the Bomber Plant” campaign saved a portion of the plant. Starting today, the museum is asking for the public’s support to turn the Willow Run Bomber Plant in to a national aviation attraction.

The Willow Run Bomber Plant is a piece of history in its own right. The facility manufactured more than 8,000 B-24 Liberator bombers during World War II, and was the workplace of the woman who inspired the iconic Rosie the Riveter image.”

The Yankee Air Museum, according to GM’s press release, created the video below to document their move into the historic Willow Run Bomber Plant.  What’s cool about the video below is that it shows an important part of America’s WWII history being preserved for future generations.  We have no doubt that it took countless hours and volunteers to even get these three warbirds into the old airplane factory.

This must be just the beginning of a long road back after a devastating fire at previous Yankee Air Museum building.

How difficult was it for the Chevy 3500 to tow the old planes in the snow? We don’t know, but we’re happy to watch them do it below.

However we do know how a very similar Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty did running up the Ike Gauntlet. We just tested the Dually version of this same Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty and it did….you know what….

You can watch for yourself below. We don’t want to spoil the surprise.
