Take a look at the 2016 February sales numbers. Ford, GM, and Ram together sold over 142,000 trucks during the month. The top three best selling midsize sedans (Toyota, Nissan, and Honda) sold over 85,000 units during the same period. What about the popular crossovers? The top three compact crossovers (Toyota, Honda, and Ford) sold over 74,000 units in February. Clearly, the top three pickup trucks garner more sales.
5. Tax Incentives
Trucks are often business vehicles, and trucks with a curb weight of over 6,000 lbs qualify for significant tax incentives. This makes buying a high-end heavy duty pickup truck ever more attractive.
4. Off-road Capability
Most pickup trucks are not the best off-roaders, but more trucks are sold with a 4×4 system than without it. Trucks have the ground clearance that sedans and many crossovers cannot match.

Modern trucks have all the luxury, comfort, and safety equipment that are available on luxury sedans or crossovers. However, the truck is more roomy than most sedans. It can carry and tow heavy and bulky loads. If you can park a large truck in your garage or driveway, then you are likely getting more overall value for your dollar. Yes, trucks tend to be less fuel efficient, but fuel is relatively cheap in United States this season.
