2016 Ford F-150 MVP Edition – An Homage to the World Champs

Ford F-150 MVP Edition Badge
In honor of the 2015 World Series Champion Kansas City Royals, Ford has announced plans to make a limited run of 300 special edition trucks. These One-of-300 special editions will be known as the 2016 Ford F-150 MVP Edition. The truck was suggested by a Ford customer, Marc Lassalle, a Kansas City Royals fan, who wanted to celebrate his team’s second world championship. The 2016 MVP Edition follows the 1986 Ford Ranger MVP edition, made and sold thirty years ago to commemorate Kansas City’s first time as world champions in 1985. To honor both teams with one truck, Ford has enlisted the help of former Kansas City Royals star Bret Saberhagen from the 1985 World Series winning team roster, and Salvador Pérez, from the 2015 team, to promote the F-150 MVP edition.

Based on the F-150 XLT, the F-150 MVP comes with a chrome package and can be bought in either Oxford White or Blue Flame. In addition to the rather fitting paint color options, the F-150 MVP includes special badging, unique polished stainless rocker panels, and a spray-in bedliner. Sticking with the Kansas City theme, the customizations are added at Kansas City’s unique SubTropolis underground business complex, where Ford applies the aforementioned upgrades to the F-150 MVP Edition in an energy-efficient cave system.

If you are wondering why Ford chose to specifically honor the Royals, Gary Johnson, Ford vice president for North America manufacturing, said,

“Like our manufacturing team members at Kansas City Assembly Plant, the Kansas City Royals are a great example of what terrific teamwork can accomplish.”

This reveal comes out right at the time that Midwest Ford Dealers has renewed its sponsorship agreement with the Kansas City Royals for 2016. For those of you hoping to get your hands on this limited edition Royals themed truck, the 2016 Ford F-150 MVP Edition is on sale now in Kansas City area Ford Dealerships.
