What is an expedition vehicle? This term can mean different things, but the latest EarthRoamer XV-HD is an adventure and exploration truck that is all about ultimate luxury, spaciousness, and off-road flair. It is super-sized to the tune of 13 feet of height and 35 feet of length.
You may have seen the EarthRoamer XV-LT series vehicles that are based on the Ford F-550 chassis (see the video below).
The XV-HD takes it to the next level. It is based on the latest F-650 4WD chassis and is bigger in nearly every dimension. You can now bring more of your friends, as it is rated to seat eight or sleep six people. Did you get dirty during your explorations? No problem, you can add a washer/dryer to your XV-HD. The 200-gallon fresh water tank and 145 gallons of diesel ensure you can go further and do more.
Propulsion comes from the medium-duty tuned 6.7-liter PowerStroke V8 turbo-diesel that is good for 330 horsepower and 725 lb-ft of torque. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is a neat 26,000 lbs that allows you to avoid some semi-truck highway restrictions as well as the need for a commercial driver’s license.
This EarthRoamer continues company’s off-the-grid mentality with a 2.4 Kilowatts solar array on the top and 25.3 Kilowatts of battery capacity.
The truck uses military grade 46-inch tires with one spare, so you can venture far off the beaten path as long as you are aware of the XV-HD’s grand dimensions (more specifications are below).
The company says that the production of the XV-HD will begin in late 2015.
