Check out another peek at the 2016 Nissan Titan before the big reveal at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show next week. Rich Miller, Director of Product Planning and TITAN Chief Product Specialist, shares his story and more details behind the all new truck.

He also reveals another important detail. Rich says that the new truck will have two engine options. We already know about the beastly 5.0L Cummins V8 turbo-diesel. Rich states that the V8 gasoline engine will return for duty in the 2016 truck. The current 5.6L V8 is torquey, but is a little low on horsepower by today’s standards. It’s rated at 317 horsepower @ 5,200 rpm and 385 lb-ft of torque @ 3,400 rpm. It’s also relatively thirsty with a rating of 13 MPG city and 18 MPG on the highway in the current 2WD truck.

It will be very interesting to see what improvements Nissan has in store for the gasoline motor. Perhaps, the current 5-speed automatic will make way for a more efficient unit with more gears? Whatever Nissan does, they still have an eye on durability and longevity.

This video does not state that these will be the only two engines. We just don’t know what else Nissan has in store. We will learn more details when the truck is shown for the first time on Monday January 12, 2015. TFLtruck will be LIVE broadcasting from the press conference via TFLnow.

Here is the video from Nissan, showing more of the development story behind the 2016 Titan.
