The 2016 Nissan Titan made its debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS 2015).  The Titan “XD” model will feature an optional 5.0L Cummins V-8 Turbodiesel engine. Mated to a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission, the Cummins will pump out 310 HP and 555 lb-ft of torque while returning an impressive 12,000+ lbs maximum towing and over 2,000 lbs maximum payload capacity.

The Titan XD is the first of three cab configurations, three bed lengths, two frame types, three powertrain offerings and five grade levels to be available in the full Titan lineup.  In addition, the XD uses a unique frame and chassis to handle the optional Cummins engine. It also boosts the towing and payload capacities.

Nissan says that overall, the 2016 Nissan Titan was developed to incorporate “commercial-strength” components – from the radiator to the rear axle and everything in between.

The fully boxed, full-length ladder frame has been reinforced and strengthened for use with the 2016 Nissan Titan XD, featuring added stiffness, vertical and lateral bending, and torsional rigidity. It also features an extended 151.6-inch wheelbase, which is about 20 inches longer than non-XD Titan models.
