FIAT Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will produce a new pickup truck built by Mitsubishi. After signing a (non-binding) memorandum of understanding, FCA and Mitsubishi agreed to the creation of a pickup truck based on the next generation Mitsubishi L200 for FCA. This pickup truck will be sold under FIAT’s professional commercial vehicle brand.

The only small pickup truck FIAT builds is the front-drive Strata, which is not sold in North America.
Is this a glimpse of the future Ram Dakota? Possibly, the next generation Mitsubishi L200 may be competitive with the modern platform General Motors is using for the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. Mitsubishi has a great deal of small diesel experience and, perhaps, an FCA pickup truck in North America has potential?
