2015 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will compete in the Full-size Stock Class of the 2014 SCORE Baja 1000 off-road race being held November 12-16, 2014.  Only minor modifications are needed or required to enter the race, but truck durability and team experience are the winning tickets.  Toyota did their homework and have the elements for success.

They are using the CrewMax version of the 2015 Tundra TRD Pro as the basis.  So what changes had to be made to get the truck ready for one of the most difficult off-road races?

The shocks are still Bilsteins that are TRD tuned with Blackhawk bypass.  Front coil springs are from Eibach and the rear leafs are from Deaver.  Tires are probably the most important component of any off-road race, and Toyota chose 37 inch BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR2.  Up front, you will find six additional lights from Hella for the night portion of the race.  This Tundra has a racing-style fuel cell, TRD customized intake and exhaust to get a little more oomph.

On the inside, there is a chromoly steel roll cage by Herbst/Smith Fabrication and three racing seats and harnesses from Mastercraft.  Driver and navigator get custom GPS/navigation systems, race radio, and intercom.

Speaking of people.  Ivan “Ironman” Stewart is the team coach for this attempt.  It’s fitting because he has 22 championships across Baja 500 and 1000 races. Toyota trucks cheif engineer, Mike Sweers, is the sole navigator.  And the four drivers are: Ted Moncure, Andy Bell, Jamie Bestwick, and Ryan Millen.  All these guys have numerous class or race championships under their belts.  This should be a good one.
