2015 Ford F-250 – 6.7L Power Stroke

What better way to spend an afternoon than behind the wheel of an updated 2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty, the most powerful diesel pickup truck in the segment?  You will find a lot of exterior or interior design changes for the 2015 model year.  Ford is saving that for 2016 and beyond.

The new stuff is under the hood.  There you will find an upgraded fuel delivery system to match the new and bigger turbocharger.  The result is a class-leading 440 hp @ 2,800 rpm and 860 lb-ft of torque @ 1,600 rpm.  That is approaching semi-truck territory.  This is Ford’s second generation of the 6.7L Power Stroke V8.  It also has a new temperature control system to improve efficiency.    The TorqShift 6-speed automatic transmission sends the power down the line.  Ford claims a 20% better economy over the outgoing engine.  It is also B20 (20% bio-diesel fuel capable).  The crew cab models get a 37.5 gallon fuel tank for even more range.

Ford did not forget about the stopping performance.  The new turbocharger integrates an exhaust brake system.  Of course, the payloads and towing capability are improved.  The F-250 Crew Cab 4×4 is rated at 3,350 lbs of maximum payload.  Conventional bumper-pull towing for this F-250 is rated at 14,000 lbs, while the 5th wheel setup is rated at 15,900 lbs.  There is not a big gap between the Ford’s rating versus GM’s or Ram’s.  The only way to find out the best is with TFLtruck’s real world reviews and tests.
