The Jeep JK-8 kit is a (fairly) simple way to turn your current-model Wrangler Unlimited into a pickup truck. For $5889.99 (sand a $469.99 shipping surcharge) you can wrench on your own Jeep and build a Jeep JK-8 of your very own. The Jeep JK-8 Kit comes with a 44-inch by 50-inch steel bed with stamped sheet metal bed-sides, a removable fiberglass roof with sliding back/rear glass and a fiberglass bulkhead – among other components.

According to Quadratec, It will take 12 to 14 hours to install – provided you have experience and ability.

Rather than move the spare tire to the underside of the bed (like most pickups) the Jeep JK-8 Kit mounts the spare tire to the rear tailgate.

True, paying about $6,000 to upgrade an already expensive Jeep seems a bit of a stretch, but there is another way to look at it: If you need to do serious off-road driving and need that vehicle to be as capable as a Wrangler, you would spend quite a lot of cash to build such a vehicle. The investment cost might even out in the end.

Speaking of outlandishly capable off road potential coming from a Jeep-based pickup truck…
