We saw a Ram 3500 dually truck at the 2013 SEMA show wearing a CASE orange/black color scheme and CASE badging. Now, Ram returns the favor and we get a CASE 580 Super N Wide Track Laramie Longhorn backhoe. Of course, this backhoe comes on a trailer pulled by a Ram 3500 Laramie Longhorn.
This CASE 580 SNwt is one luxurious piece of equipment. It has a very shiny black and gold paint job, chromed wheels, and the leather interior fitting the Laramie Longhorn motif. Who wouldn’t want to play with this big time construction toy? It brings out a three year old kid in all of us.
However, could this be something more than a flashy marketing exercise? The big question is – could Ram and CASE have a relationship of sharing mechanical components? CASE does have a series of incredibly torquey six-cylinder diesel engines. Could there be some collaboration between the two companies in the power train department now that Cummins is no longer exclusive to Ram pickup trucks? So far, this is just speculation, but looking at the cool CASE construction equipment can create a childish and gossip mood.
