First Impressions: The 2014 Toyota Tundra Platinum CrewMax Is One Impressive Beast

2014 Toyota Tundra Platinum

The 2014 Toyota Tundra Platinum CrewMax 4×4 is nothing short of an impressive beast of a truck. This isn’t some wimpy little truck that wants to pretend it’s one of the big boys. This is one of the big boys and it will run you down if you need proof.

The truck hasn’t changed under the hood with a 5.7L V8, but it has changed its looks significantly. Outside it’s now become something much more aggressive than previous models with sharper lines and more defined sculpting. Inside, however, it somehow takes a turn toward luxury sedan with Platinum labelling all over the place and a quilted leather dash. Yeah, there’s quilting in this big old beast.

My first impression is that this truck makes an impression and looks like it’ll get the job done, no matter the job you have in mind. I say this because, parked in a snowbank taking this picture, our local law enforcement stopped to say hello. No, he wasn’t checking to see if I was stuck as I first thought, he was stopping to check out the truck.

It looks as ready to do some serious work as it does haul the family, and the family boat once summer rolls around with a towing capacity of 9,500 lbs. For now, I’m just really, really hoping we get serious snow before they take back the 2014 Toyota Tundra CrewMax 4×4 so I can see if I can get this thing stuck.
