The 2015 Chevrolet City Express van is making its debut at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, sporting key innovations and tons of room for cargo. This small utility van aims to be a big hit as a purpose built fleet vehicle.
The external appearance of this new van may seem familiar, and that is because you’ve already seen it. That’s right; the new City Express is closely related to the Nissan NV200 van as they share nearly all the same basic features and drivetrain.
The City Express is available in two different trim levels, LS and LT. Both trim levels have plenty of utility features, configurations and accessories that customize the van to suit your needs. Many of these features can be optioned in the available uplift packages.
Some of the standard technologies in the van include:
Standard Driver Information Center
Stereo with AM/FM Radio, CD play, Auxiliary input, dual front door mounted speakers
Available on the technology package in the LT trim level:
5.8” Color touch screen display
Voice recognition
Navigation
XM Satellite Radio
Bluetooth Connectivity
Steering wheel audio controls
USB Port
Rear Vision back-up camera and Rear Park Assist
The City Express also offers quite a few safety features to keep occupants and cargo safe while on the road.
Six Airbags
Electronic Stability Control
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Rear backup camera and rear park assist (Only available on the LT model)
The City Express also offers and competitive yet efficient drivetrain that features 2.0L DOHC gasoline powered 4 cylinder engine that puts out 131 hp and 139 lb-ft of torque. This engine can only be configured with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Even though front wheel drive systems may not sound appealing in a utility van, it is actually quite beneficial. It allows much more overall room to be accessed inside the box and also permits there to be a much lower floor height making it much easier to load and unload the 122.7 cubic foot cargo area.
Pricing for the 2015 City Express Van has not been released, but is expected to reflect the price of the Nissan NV200 which starts around $20,000.
