Detroit Auto Show plays host to the annual North American Car and Truck of the year award presentation.  The vehicles are selected from eligible all-new or refreshed cars, utilities, and trucks for the model year (2014, in this case).   The select 48 journalists/jurors go through two rounds of voting.  The first round is to identify the three finalists, and the second round to pick the winner of the three.

This year, the following three finalists quickly emerged: 2014 Acura MDX, 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2014 Jeep Cherokee.  In the end, Silverado received 219 points; Jeep Cherokee scored 174, and Acura MDX got 97 points.  This was the fourth North American truck win for General Motors.  The Silverado also won in 2007.
