The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 6.2L, the 2014 GMC Sierra 5.3L, and the 2014 Nissan Titan compete in the same light duty pickup truck segment. Except of course that they don’t really compete because if you are a Chevy guy or gal you’ll probably drive a Chevy pickup trucks for your entire life. The same can be said for the other truck brands as well. In another fun and informative TFLtruck video we decided to find out which of these three trucks is the fastest from 0-60 MPH and which one is fastest towing a Tige ski boat from 0-60 MPH. In this part 3 of this ultimate matchup towing challenge we test the most powerful pickup in the light duty segment – the 2014 Chevy Silverado with the 6.2L V8.
This 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 6.2L CrewCab 4×4 has many options, including the Max. Trailering package. This adds better cooling systems and the 3.73 rear axle ratio. Still this big and heavy truck is EPA rated at 14 city / 20 hwy MPG. The big “EcoTec3” motor is good for 420 hp @5,600 and 460 lb-ft @4,100 and stickered for $51,560. All our 0-60 MPH towing tests have used the same Tige 22Ve test boat and trailer – totaling a 5,740 lbs.
Tow Matchup Participant | Solo | With Boat |
2014 GMC Sierra CrewCab 4×4 5.3L | 9.43 sec | 18.91 sec |
2014 Nissan Titan KingCab 4×4 PRO-4X 5.6L | 8.74 sec | 17.27 sec |
2014 Chevrolet Silverado CrewCab 4×4 6.2L | 7.71 sec | 15.10 sec |
It’s good to compare this three part series with the previous triplet of towing tests. 2013 Ford F-150 EcoBoost was our quickest truck until now…
Enjoy!
